The PCAOB oversees the audits of public companies and SEC-registered brokers and dealers in order to protect investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, accurate, and independent audit reports.

Job Description

The PCAOB has a full-time, regular position for an Manager, Enforcement Accountant in the Division of Enforcement and Investigations in its New York, NY regional office or Washington, DC headquarters office. DEI investigates and, where appropriate brings enforcement actions against, registered firms and their associated persons for violations of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the rules of the PCAOB, provisions of the securities laws relating to the preparation and issuance of audit reports and the obligations and liabilities of accountants with respect thereto, including the rules of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission issued under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, or professional standards. This position requires strong analytical skills and thorough knowledge of auditing standards and rules related to the audits of public companies and registered broker-dealers.


  • Planning, organizing, and conducting investigations of possible violations of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the rules of the PCAOB, relevant provisions of the securities laws, or professional standards;

  • Reviewing and analyzing audit working papers and related correspondence, corporate books and records, and other financial and accounting documents;

  • Supporting attorneys, with supervision, in conducting interviews and testimony;

  • Identifying accounting, auditing, and financial reporting deficiencies and synthesizing evidence to support enforcement recommendations;

  • Assisting investigative team in making recommendations to division leadership relating to possible enforcement actions; and

  • Assisting attorneys, with supervision, in connection with administrative proceedings before hearing officers and before the Board.


Education/Technical Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting;

  • Current CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license required;

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressively responsible experience with a public accounting firm in the audit of publicly traded companies with a minimum of 2 years at the manager level;

  • Proficient in the application of accounting and auditing guidance including PCAOB standards, GAAP, and federal securities regulations related to the issuance of audited financial statements;

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;

  • Strong technical abilities and verbal and written communications skills; and

  • Ability to travel some.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA/Master's degree

  • Forensic or investigative experience
